# How to add your customers

Add each business you sell to, then a location for every place you deliver. A location holds the address, contact and order terms, and a new delivery order prices its round-trip mileage from that address.

## Add a customer

1. Go to **Customers** and click **Add Customer**.
2. Under **Customer Information**, enter the **Company Name** and choose a **Customer Type**. Both are required. **Company URL** and a logo are optional.
3. Under **Locations**, click **Add Location** for each place you deliver to. A café with two shops gets two locations.
4. In the location window:
   - Under **Location**, enter a **Location Name** (the street or neighborhood works) and the address. Start typing the street and pick it from the suggestions.
   - Under **Primary Contact**, add who orders for that location: name, email and phone.
   - Under **Order Terms**, set anything that applies there: **Price List**, **Minimum Order**, **Payment Terms**, **Credit Limit** or **Tax Exemption ID**. All of them are optional.
   - Click **Save**.
5. Click **Save** on the customer page. The customer and its locations are saved together.

If you save a customer without adding a location, Prophitable creates one called "Default" with no address. Open it from the Locations table, rename it and add the address, or your delivery mileage can't be worked out.

## What you'll see

The customer's **Locations** table lists each place with its city, contact, minimum and price list. Each row's menu has **Create Sales Order**, **Add Recurring Order** and **Invite Buyer** (for online ordering).

The **Orders** tab shows every order across all of the customer's locations.

When you start a delivery sales order and pick a location, Prophitable measures the round trip from your business address to that location and fills in **Fuel & Mileage**, which is the miles times your cost per mile. It needs a street, city and state on both addresses, so complete your company info too.

A location with a **Tax Exemption ID** is never charged sales tax.

> [!TIP]
> Every delivery costs you the drive there and back. With the address on each location, each order counts its own mileage, so a customer across town shows a smaller profit than one around the corner.
