How to add your default sales tax

Set your sales tax rate once under Settings > Tax Rate, and every new sales order adds it. Sales tax is kept out of your profit, because it's the state's money, not yours.

Add your default sales tax

  1. Go to Settings and click Tax Rate.

  2. Enter your rate in Default Sales Tax as a percent, for example 9.5.

  3. Click Save.

Only an admin can change it.

What you'll see

Every new sales order starts with this rate in the Tax Rate field under Total Sale. You can change it on any order. Orders you've already made keep the rate they had.

A customer location with a Tax Exemption ID (in its Order Terms) gets 0% instead.

The tax shows as Sales Tax Collected beside Order Profit, and the profit doesn't include it.
